The essence of Art Deco , Cassandre's Nord Express. The poster designed and printed in 1927 is characterised by an audacious use of perspecive , between the tension of the telegraph lines and the locomotive . The text is integrated into the image and the locomotive shows the influence of Leger's  modernist paintings. The etreme stylisation of the loco make it both graceful and powerful. The loco. is so futuristic almost abstract but we recognise it instantly.  Easy to say one the the 20th Century's  best posters.

Air India whimsical Bollywood/.

Rene Gruau was a great fashion illustrator and is an artist - in the full term of the word. His  C'est Magnifique  , 4 sheets measururing 240 by 320cms , created for the Lido was a 'clin d'oeil' at Toulouse Lautrec's Moulin Rouge , they are  similar compositions. It is a great poster , rivalling Lautrec you could ask ?  Beautifully printed by Cinemato in the early 1960's.                            

Too big for most decorative purposes the poster is a wonderful piece of graphic art , if kept upbacked it is potentially a great investment. We have purchased a group.

Three months in Paris and we have purchased some 'really' good vintage posters , some replaced old favorites but many new items.They will be  soon up on the website 'new puchases '  section. 

We have another Mmme de P. One on the absolute top posters , considered by the print community as an original work by Matisse. The Museum of Mod. Art. New Yourk offer giclee prints of their own collection piece. The Gallery is being run Catherine Dumont with the help of Betty Greenhatch in my absence. I have been in Paris and New York for six weeks and am actvely keeping abreast of the international poster market . The vintage poster market is evolving rapidly , there are new tendencies taste-wise and obviously changes due to the world economics . The US -Australian Dollar - Euro rates are making posters more affordable. The Australian market  has really only seen or been offered the lower end market posters as perhaps real collectors are still few and far between.We have been the only gallery with truly international collectors items and we are going to pursue this direction and specialise in good things. We know what the real posters are and have the expertise to deal in them internationally. It would be a sad  to just offer the Australians 'lot' posters.

 In the 3rd  "ultra" vintage poster sale at Joigny , Burgundy (Collection- Jules Adeline) we have purchased 24 original  posters ,
all date from the pre 1900's (all  printed in the decade before 1900).
They have been acquired against global competition for the pleasure of offering and exhibiting  in our Armadale Gallery.
They are absolutely top pieces. 
We see this morning's  Financial Review proclaims the' end of bling' We emphasize our aim to buy poster art documents worthy
 of museum and collector interest , not just luxury wall decoration.
7 of the group relate especially to Italy , presenting Rowing and Cycling Clubs events( Torino) and tourism in Palermo.
 These grand late 19th century Italian posters are over two metres long. Two others advertise Italo-American national ties.
Another 7 advertise, or rather exalt Parisian Cabaret , Theatre and Literary events . From England a baroque Dick Whittington
and India at Earls Court, plus a rare (original) piece for the New Oxford Theatre by the celebrated Aubrey Beardsley.
