Nord Express, Cassandre |
|
|
The essence of Art Deco, Cassandre's Nord Express. The poster designed and printed in 1927 is characterised by an audacious use of perspective, between the tension of the telegraph lines and the locomotive. The text is integrated into the image and the locomotive shows the influence of Leger's modernist paintings. The extreme stylisation of the loco makes it both graceful and powerful. The loco. is so futuristic, almost abstract but we recognise it instantly. Easy to say one the the 20th Century's best posters. 1927, Nord Express. 75 x 105cms. Hachard et Cie, Paris. A.M. Cassandre. |
